Below is a parital list of volunteers needed to keep the RVGS Library and programs running. We have volunteer activities appropriate for any skill level. If you would like to join our volunteers, we have a place for you. Click here to fill out our Volunteer Application.
Book Seller Assistant Needed
Do you want to help the society, but don’t want to be the person “in charge”? Become our RVGS Online Book Seller’s Assistant. We need a volunteer or two to post books for sale on Abe’s Books. There might also be times where you will be asked to package and ship the books to purchasers. Being comfortable inputting data is helpful. Being willing to learn is most important. Training will be provided. Work with our Book Seller to re-home books no longer needed, while giving us needed space in the library and some income to support our society.

Ashland Chamber of Commerce Greeters, RVGS Representative.
This group meets every Friday at a different member business at 8:15 AM (and on the 4th Thursday of the month they meet at 5:15 PM.) RVGS would love to have someone attend at least one Greeters meeting each month, to share what’s upcoming at RVGS, make our rack cards available, and answer any questions. It is a great opportunity to learn about Ashland (and other nearby) businesses, including other nonprofits. It is fun to showcase our upcoming classes, seminars, interest groups, and free programs.
Librarians
Learn more about the RVGS Library's hidden treasures by volunteering to be a librarian. No experience necessary. Training will be provided. There are three-hour shifts 10 AM to 1:00 PM available (if we are able to recruit enough volunteers to expand our open hours.) There are always two librarians on duty.

librarian@rvgslibrary.org for additional information.
Zoom Host Coordinator
Almost all of the RVGS classes and programs require a Zoom host (and sometimes two). While a number of Zoom hosts are trained, they need to be contacted and scheduled so that all events are adequately Zoom hosted. Most months in 2024 there will be 2 or 3 events requiring Zoom hosts. Not a big task, but a very necessary one!
Education Committee Members
Education Committee members coordinate educational activities of the Society, primarily focusing on classes, free programs, and seminars. If you have a strong interest in genealogy education, this is the committee for you!
Quilt Committee Members
Quilt Committee members are responsible for preserving and displaying the Society’s quilt collection, and providing educational programs that focus on the relevance of quilts and other heirlooms to family history and genealogy.
Scholarship Committee Members
Scholarship Committee members are responsible for administering the Society’s annual high school scholarship program. Duties include reviewing submitted applications, selecting a successful recipient, and monitoring the overall parameters and funding of the program. This committee meets approximately four times per year and currently has an opening for a member volunteer.
eNews Submissions
Members are invited and encouraged to write articles and/or submit photos for the eNews that are relevant to genealogy research and/or RVGS. The eNews is published on the first of each month. The deadline for article submission is the 20th of the preceding month. Send articles to
enews@rvgslibrary.org.
